Today, RSI and 25 other civil society organisations wrote to the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, Michelle Donelan MP, urging them to scrap the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill.
The Bill seeks to overhaul the system of data protection legislation in the UK in a way that reduces standards and puts individuals at risk. It does so by limiting data subjects' rights and expanding the Secretary of State's powers, allowing them to interfere with the data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office.
