The events that shocked Afghanistan in August 2021 worsen one of the most complex social and political crises of recent years. Many activists and organisations recurred to online platforms to raise their voices against the human rights violations taking place in the country and advocate for the rights of migrants and refugees fleeing the country. However, social media has proven to be far from a safe place.
Rights and Security International (RSI) joints efforts to provide e-safety training for Afghan activists facing online violence. We will deliver relevant information on how to use social media in a safe and positive way, identify risks that spyware may pose, and skills to protect against various forms of cyber-attacks. We welcome those who want to improve their use of online resources to advocate and campaign for the rights of the Afghan people.
