Rights & Security International (RSI) is seeking a part-time Communications Officer to raise our profile and enhance the delivery of our important messages about human rights.
**The successful candidate must have a right to work in the UK and plan to be based here.**
RSI is looking for an experienced Communications Officer who:
- Can successfully pitch news stories and opinion pieces to journalists and editors at a variety of media outlets, such as newspapers, radio and television.
- Has experience managing social media accounts for organisations, including but not limited to LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
- Is skilled at writing press releases and media alerts.
- Can help our other staff build relationships with members of the media, including by developing an internal media database.
- Can work with RSI’s Development Officer to draft RSI’s short fortnightly newsletter.
- Can work to tight deadlines when pressing items need to be delivered.
- Has strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.
Desirable but non-essential abilities:
- Can edit photos and/or videos, and develop media for social media channels.
